Uncertainty looms in Anglophone regions following lockdown announcement

Travel agencies and car parks in Buea, Kumba, Bamenda and other parts of the restive North West and South West regions were crowded with passengers last weekend.

“Am now at Mile 17 the passenger here is catastrophic. Many people are packing their things out of Buea,” a witness told Mimi Mefo Info.

Most of the passengers who were spotted early Sunday August 4, 2019 were reportedly heading towards French speaking cities like Douala and Yaounde.
Last week, Ambazonian leaders vowed to call for an indefinite lockdown should the Biya government fail to show proof of life of Mancho Bibixy and close to 200 others transferred from Kondengui Prison July 23, 2019.

The detained Ambazonian activists were whisked out of Kondengui to what Human Right Watch described as “secret” detention centres after a prison protest which left the detention facility in flames.

There are also unconfirmed reports that Mancho Bibixy and Co were killed.
Government tweeted last week that they were alive and well, but did not reveal their whereabouts.

The week might be a long one.
