Under-17 Women’s World Cup: CAF bans Ghana over age-cheating

The black maidens of Ghana have been given a two-year ban by the Confederation of African Football, (CAF) for faking the ages of two players.

The ban comes after complaints by Morocco stated that Nancy Amoh and Rasheeda Shabadu playing for the under-17 women’s team in Ghana had forged their dates of birth.

The black maidens recently defeated Morroco with a score of 2-0 thanks to goals from Nancy Apoh and Stella Nyamekye, in a match played at the Accra sports stadium.

The Ghana Football Association, GFA was given the chance to contest the decision — and they failed to, leaving the CAF’s disciplinary board with no other option than to rule over the case.

However, the GFA can still appeal the decision at CAF, MMI has learnt.

Should the decision remain the same, Ghana will be expected to pay a fine of $100000 for “age-cheating.”

The team will also not be able to take part in the FIFA U17 World Cup championship for the next two years.
