Unidentified woman abandons lifeless newborn baby in a stream

Inhabitants of Melong, a local community bordering the Littoral and South West regions of Cameroon got up Tuesday, August 15, 2023, to a shocking discovery.

The dead body of a premature baby was found in a small stream around the Melong market.

Locals say the child must have been aborted and dumped in the stream by a woman yet to be identified.

“Here is the lifeless body of a child that the population of Melong around the market woke up to discover in a stream,” a local told MMI saying that, “It is presumed to be an act of abortion.”

An amateur video obtained by MMI shows villagers gathered around the stream where the child is seen inside.
