Unity Day Celebration in Nganha Highlights Vigilante Committees’ Role in Regional Security

The 53rd edition of Cameroon’s National Unity Day was marked in Nganha by a large turnout of residents and a notable tribute to the region’s security actors. The local population expressed appreciation for the efforts of military personnel and community-based vigilante committees, whose contribution has been instrumental in the restoration of peace in the Adamawa region.

Recognition of Security Forces and Vigilante Committees

During the official ceremony, held in the presence of Nganha Sub-Divisional Officer Fabrice Yves Bissa and Mayor Awalou Mohamadou, both the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) and the local vigilante committees were applauded for their collaboration in combating insecurity.

The region, previously impacted by instability, has seen a progressive return to calm. According to local authorities, this stability is largely due to coordinated security operations and grassroots vigilance.

Joint Operations and Intelligence Gathering

The combined efforts have included the establishment of military outposts and active intelligence gathering on the ground. These initiatives have strengthened security measures across the Nganha subdivision.

“The presence of these forces and their commitment have reassured the population,” a local official stated during the celebration.

Public Applause as a Sign of Support

The sustained applause received by the security forces and vigilante groups during the parade was a clear sign of public appreciation. “The population wanted to show their gratitude,” noted one event organizer.

This year’s National Unity Day celebration not only emphasized national cohesion but also served as a platform to acknowledge the tangible improvements in local security. The recognition of community-based security efforts in Nganha underlines the importance of collaborative approaches in maintaining regional stability.
