4202 participants are expected to be present at the games but the university has only 6 functional toilets. The Rector of the University, Professor Uphie Chindje Melo announced that "holes will be dug and surrounded by straws"
Sanitary preparations in particular might posed a problem during the 2023 University games considering the limited number of operational toilets at the Ngaoundere University.
In a radio and press release, the Minister of Higher Education Jacques FAME NDONGO announced today April 29, 2023, the start of the 23rd university games at the University of Ngaoundéré in Adamaoua.
The 2023 edition has the theme “Contribution of university games to the Construction of Peace and sustainable development”.
4202 participants are expected to be present at the ceremony. Among them, 3151 athletes and fan club members, 317 coaches, 350 technical officials, and 290 officials and members of delegations.
Last week, the visit to the infrastructures by the Governor of Adamaoua Kildadi Taguiéké BOUKAR revealed that the University of Ngaoundéré has only six functional toilets.
In this light, the Rector of the University, Professor Uphie Chindje Melo announced that “holes will be dug and surrounded by straws” to ensure the participants can do the essentials and that they will be destroyed once the university games are over.
