University Lecturer goes hard on students for not knowing the alphabet

A lecturer at the University of Bamenda, in Cameroon’s North West Region, says he will not spare the rod and spoil the students.

A rare image of him during lectures with students of Level 400 in the department of Maritime Transport was captured this week.

Mr. Yungho Adamu decided to punish the students because they “couldn’t give the full meaning of letters of the alphabet in maritime language. But those sitting down could read and interpret the letters,” a student has told MMI.

According to Mr. Adamu: “Students will learn by force, and I will continue treating them as if they are still in secondary school until they understand that the university demands more from them.”

“The Student of higher institute of transport and logistics (HITL) students appreciate Mr. Yungho Adamu” a student added, “for being a good lecturer, and we hope all lecturers can do the same to instill discipline and excellence.”

What do you make of this approach to lecturing?
