A university student was discovered dead in Bambili this Monday morning, in what local residents suspect to be a tragic fall from the second floor of a student hostel.
Neighbors say they heard a loud noise during the night, possibly the moment the victim fell.
Local residents drew the attention of security forces after finding the lifeless body this morning. They retrieved the corpse and launched an investigation into the student’s death.
Preliminary findings suggest that the deceased was in the company of two male friends before the incident.
Security forces searching the room discovered marijuana and empty cans of “Bullet,” and an 18 percent alcohol energy drink.
The police arrested the two friends for questioning as investigations continue.
Residents remain in shock as authorities work to determine whether the fall was accidental or if there was any foul play.
Bambili, where the student died, is home to the University of Bamenda, which is one of 11 state universities in Cameroon.
