The Uzbek Police have confirmed the arrest of six Cameroonians who were reportedly caught trafficking counterfeit banknotes amounting to at least 10 Million Dollars.
The information was relayed to the Ministry of External Relations in Cameroon via correspondence from the Delegate in Charge of Home Affairs at the Cameroon Embassy in Russia, Florence Effa on February 18, 2021.
In the correspondence sent to External Relations Minister, Le Jeune Mbella Mbella, it also specified that these Cameroonians who have not yet been individually identified were presented on Uzbekistan National Television that same day of the arrest.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that Cameroonians have been arrested in this country over counterfeiting. In 2019, five other Cameroonians were equally arrested in Uzbekistan, detained, judged, and charged over counterfeiting and fraud of money worth over 340, 000 USD.
