“War mongers should repent and give peace a chance » Bishop George Nkou

The bishop of Kumbo dioceses in the North West region of Cameroon has regretted that the security situation in Bui division has been degenerating.

He points accusing fingers on war mongers on both sides that have vehemently denied to lay their arms. Bishop George Nkou preaching on December 25th 2019 to mark the feast of Christmas said talking of peace without practical steps to lay down weapons is a total waste of time.

Quoting circumstances that led to the end of the first world war in 1918, the bishop said soldiers on both side of the war agreed that “Me not shot, you not shot, war end”. To the prelate, this short sentence summarized the suffering of the people in the war prompting them to call for an end of the devastating war.

On how the celebration of Christmas should influence the path for peace, Bishop George Nkou said Jesus “…Christ is the Prince of peace and therefore his birth should send a message of forgiveness in the hearts of men and consequently peace”.

To the Presbyterian secretary for Bui division, those who declared war on Cameroonians should take responsibility and call for an end to the war. Rev Christian Ngandji Ndi literally lamented the suffering of the population of Kumbo yesterday as he preached the gospel of Christ to Christians.

He says the birth of Christ is being commemorated in Bui division and not celebrated. He stressed that they cannot celebrate when the lives of many have been rendered useless by the war. The celebration of Christmas was marked by gunshots in the greater part of kumbo.
