War of words ensues between Barrister Alice Nkom, Aminatou Ahidjo over wife of late president

Seasoned Cameroonian lawyer has reacted to Aminatou Ahidjo’s responds to her letter which was addressed to the first lady Chantal Biya on September 14, 2020, requesting her intervene in the restoration of the pension rights of Mrs. Germaine Ahidjo, in her capacity as the former first lady of the Republic of Cameroon.

Youngest daughter of former president, Aminatou Ahidjo who now militates for Biya’s CPDM, however responded to the request by saying Bar. Alice Nkom had not received approval to do what she did. Speaking to the “Le Messager” Newspaper.

However, Bar. Alice Nkom has made light work of the words of Aminatou Ahidjo, saying she has for a long time now mediated for Germaine Ahidjo and was not going to be put off by the words of her youngest daughter.

“If Aminatou Ahidjo reacts, it leaves me at 37 degrees. I don’t have to worry. Had it been Babette Ahidjo, her elder sister who reacted, I would have reacted because she is a doctor and it is she who has been by her mother’s bedside for a long time. As a matter of fact, let people know that I am almost on daily basis in contact with Germaine Ahidjo; she is my aunt and I might even be visiting her these days…” says the Barrister.

On her decision to write to Chantal Biya about the former first lady, Bar. Alice Nkom said it would not be wise to let Mrs. Germaine Ahidjo die before she could do anything for her.

She equally thinks that despite this being her initiative, it should be not treated a personal affair, given the status of Mrs. Germaine Ahidjo as the former first lady of the country.
