West Region: Five ‘roadside robbers’ nabbed by gendarmes

Members of the National Gendarmerie in the West Region have scored some points in their ruthless fight against insecurity in the region with the arrest of five roadside robbers in Malentouen.

The gang has allegedly been at the forefront of several road robberies in the West Region. It is believed that they were recently involved in a robbery incident along the Manjouom-Mashushi axis on April 1, 2021.

The attack on the highway by the gang triggered an investigation by elements of the Malentouen Gendarmerie Brigade, which ended with the arrest of the gang members.

Gendarme sources in Malentouen reveal that three of the criminals were arrested on April 5, 2021, at the house of one of them. During the arrest, the Gendarmes recovered several stolen items in their keeping including 11 mobile phones and five machetes.

The 4th criminal was arrested in Nkoutoukwat and the 5th in Manguimbou all in the West Region.

An investigation, meanwhile, has equally been opened by gendarmes to uncover more of such criminal activities going on in the region.
