West Region: Four family members perish after consuming supper

Four members of the same family have been confirmed dead in the Balatsit 3 neighborhood in Bamendjou, West Region of Cameroon.

The tragic incident occurred after a 58-year-old woman called Jacqueline and her three grandsons died some moments after having supper.

It is however not clear yet whether it was the food they ate that was the cause of their death or a local concoction that she took with her sons which according to them would protect them from evil spirits.

The other members of the family together with the neighbors are equally cast in confusion as to what might have been the exact cause of the deaths.

They all had similar symptoms at the time they were about to die. All four were vomiting and complained of fatigue before their deaths.

The children were the first to begin showing early signs of malaise. They soon died before reaching the hospital. Their grandmother died later.

Administrative authorities in the West Region have ordered for an investigation to be opened to know what caused these mysterious deaths.
