West Region: Four men arrested for demolishing houses in family dispute

Four men have been arrested by Gendarmerie elements after carrying out a series of demolitions during a family dispute in a locality in Bafang, West Region of Cameroon.

“After several attempts to chase his brothers and sisters from the family compound… One of the family members mobilized 40 men from the city of Douala and they headed to destroy the houses in the compound,” reported Equinox TV.

An eyewitness explained that they were informed of the demolitions by some men from Douala at about 2 a.m.

“We then alerted the population and they all came out in their numbers to stop them. We were able to catch four of the men,” the eyewitness recounted.

After receiving serious beatings by the population, the four men were taken to the hospital where they were hospitalized while chained to their beds.

Investigations have however been opened to identify the circumstances surrounding the said family dispute.
