West Region: Man arrested for attempting to kill brother in succession dispute

A man has been arrested in Kekem, a town in the West Region of Cameroon, for attempting to kill his blood brother, Jean Djuema over succession issues.

It is reported that the latter had earlier survived an attack orchestrated by his brother, aimed at terminating his life.

“The only problem I have with them is that I was chosen as successor in the family. They decided to kill me so they can have access to all the goods, since they killed the real owner of all these goods who is our father – just because they wanted to take over, ” disclosed Jean Djeuma.

According to reports, Jean’s brother had contacted a shoe vendor by name Martin to help him out in killing his brother in exchange of the sum of 500,000 CFA, but the shoe vendor rejected the proposal and rather decided to expose him.

According to Martin,” He told me to meet him at about 8 pm which I did. So he told me the 500,000 CFA is already available and that all I need to do is kill Djeuma Jean his blood brother.”

“I lamented!” he said, “I went back home and explained everything to my wife. On the 30th I went to Melong to file a complaint to the Divisional Officer. I have never killed in my life and I don’t know how it is done.”

Following the complaints, the forces of law and order of Kekem launched a manhunt against Jean Djeuma’s brother, after which he was arrested and put behind bars.
