West Region: Watchman killed as fire guts carpentry workshop

A watchman has died in a fire outbreak which occurred in a large carpentry workshop in Bandjoun, West Region of Cameroon.

The fire, according to reports broke out on the night of Thursday breaking Friday, January 28, 2023.

“I heard neighbors shouting and when I came out, I noticed the flames,” said a local who added that,” It was catastrophic indeed.”

According to another local, all attempts to displace the firefighters of the area were made null as the latter claimed their vans were all deteriorated.

Aside from the death of the watchman, huge material loss was recorded in the fire incident as all equipments were turned
to ashes.
