WHO points through sharp rise of Covid19 cases in Africa as it had previously predicted

As of yesterday, the number of corona virus cases on the African continent stood at 203,899 positively cases, showing that the cases have significantly risen.

Amongst the total number of corona virus cases on the African continent, just 10 countries in the continent alone account for 75 percent of the positive cases, with most of these cases coming from southern Africa and the West African region.

The World Health Organisation’s African regional director, Matshidiso Moeti, said severe cases and deaths in the continent are not going unnoticed
According to the latest data, 5,516 deaths from corona virus have been recorded from 54 countries so far while the level of recoveries from the deadly pandemic for these 54 countries stands at 90,779. However, the total number of active cases on the continent is at 106,487.

At the start of the pandemic in March when it was still in its early stages on the African continent, the international community predicted that the African continent was going to hit the continent hard in the coming months.

This was due to the fact that Africa was financially not as viable as the other European and American countries, coupled with the poor health system on the continent, the poor sanitation as well as the poverty that so much characterises most countries of the continent.
