Woman arrested after hiding 500,000 FCFA in underwear

A woman whose name MMI got as Jovanie Moguem Talom has been arrested in Bafoussam, West Region of Cameroon, after stealing FCFA 500,000, which she later hid in her underwear.

The police arrested her on December 15, 2022, after a thorough search was conducted at a beauty salon where the woman was, at the time of the theft.

According to reports, Jovanie had gone to the beauty salon to have her hair plated.

“Suddenly, the phone began ringing. But busy with the manicure, the owner of the salon found it difficult to pick up the device,” wrote ActuCameroon, a popular news website.

“Moguem Talom Jovanie then proposed to remove the phone from her neighbor’s handbag to pass it to her and thereby took the opportunity to steal the envelope containing 500,000 FCFA.”

After taking said amount, the woman slipped the money into her underwear before the salon owner arrived.

“A few minutes later, when going to the checkout, her neighbor could no longer find the envelope that had been in her bag a few times earlier,” ActuCameroon reported.

It was thanks to a systematic search that the 500,000 CFA was discovered in Jovanie’s underwear.
She was later arrested and placed in police custody.
