Woman arrested for robbing shop in Melong

A woman by name bridget was arrested yesterday, September 15 for robbing a shop in Melong, in the Moungo division of the Littoral Region.

According to reports, the woman got into the shop in the absence of the shop owner and gathered a huge sum of money from the latter’s coffers.

“When I arrived, I saw a woman leaving my shop with a cup in her hand. I asked what she was looking for and she started claiming she came to check on me and see if she could bring her mother for me to diagnose her health condition,” the shop owner narrated.

“I asked again what then brought her towards my coffers but she sighed, took her bag, and left. Out of curiosity I rushed towards my coffers and realized it was completely empty,” he added.

Immediately after the act, Bridget entered a nearby drinking spot where she ordered a drink and later on used the opportunity to change her clothes before leaving.

According to an eyewitness, “She was dressed in ‘Kaba’ when she entered. She asked for a bottle of juice which we served her and she drank. Before leaving, she removed the ‘kaba’ and put it in her bag since she had some extra clothes on her body already.”

She was however later traced and lynched by the population before the intervention of the forces of law and order.
