Woman Brutalised in Lebanon for Statement on Cameroonian Women

A Cameroonian woman living in Lebanon, Abanda Minette, has been brutally assaulted after having an opinion about her fellow Cameroonian women in Lebanon.

The attack, which sparked widespread outrage, followed her comments during a TikTok live session in which she opined that 90% of Cameroonian women in Lebanon were engaging in prostitution.

The violent episode was captured in a shocking video that has since gone viral on social media.

In the footage, a group of over 10 women can be seen assaulting Minette, demanding that she retract her statements and apologise publicly.

Despite her pleas for mercy, the women continued to beat her, insisting she confess to the “crime” of defaming Cameroonian women abroad.

Minette’s remarks were made during a live session where she categorically claimed that about 90 percent of Cameroonian women living in Lebanon were involved in sex work.

Backlash from Fellow Women

This assertion quickly sparked a backlash from members of the Cameroonian community in Lebanon, many of whom felt the statement was defamatory and damaging to their reputation.

In what appears to be a retaliatory act, a group of Cameroonian women confronted Minette and another individual believed to have spread similar information.

The video shows the attackers interrogating Minette, demanding that she record another video admitting her involvement in prostitution and offering a public apology.

When Minette resisted, the violence escalated, with her attackers throwing her to the ground and continuing their physical assault.

Condemnation and Calls for Justice

The harrowing video, which shows Minette in tears, calling out for her mother and pleading for her life, has sparked widespread condemnation on social media.

Cameroonians, both in Lebanon and other parts of the world, have expressed outrage, calling the attack barbaric and inhumane.

Many have demanded justice for Minette, urging the Lebanese authorities and the Cameroonian embassy to take swift action against the perpetrators.

“This is a clear act of cruelty and lawlessness,” commented one social media user.

“No matter the offence, no one has the right to take the law into their own hands and subject another human being to such violence.”

As the video continues to circulate, calls for legal action are growing louder, with some activists pushing for an investigation into the assault and for those involved to be held accountable.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety and protection of migrant workers, especially women, in Lebanon.

Authorities in Lebanon have not yet commented on the situation, but the Cameroonian community is urging both countries to work together to ensure justice is served.
