Works Minister MaKes Another Promise On Tarring of Bamenda-Babadjou Road

The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Ngannou Djoumessi has made another promise on moves to get the Bamenda-Babadjou Road tarred.

In a recent outing, the Minister disclosed that negotiations between the government and the World Bank are ongoing for the construction of the B road that links the West region and other parts of the country with the North West region.

In an interview with the state broadcaster, Nganou Djoumessi confirmed that the World Bank has agreed to partly finance the road at the width of 30meters up from 17metres previously.

He also disclosed that 6 billion FCFA will be paid to locals as compensation for their properties that will be destroyed paving the way for the construction of the road.

However, Minister Nganou Djoumessi did not mention exactly when works are expected to start. Works were halted in 2018 on accounts of insecurity in the restive North West region. But the clamour for the construction of the said road had been on even before the Anglophone crisis started.

Some media organs had earlier reported that the construction of the road is not among government’s 2022 priority projects handed to the International Monitory Fund, IMF
