Wouri SDO bans trucks from plying the east entrance to Douala

Trucks of all categories have been banned from using the east entrance to the city of Douala, precisely the Yassa Road in Douala 3, from 5:00 AM to 9:00PM.

The decision today spans from, Monday August 5, 2019 to the 31st August 2019.The period of the ban can be extended, says a press release by the Wouri SDO.
In the order signed by the Senior Divisional Officer for Wouri today, only trucks working for government projects, those belonging to the health sector and the military can use the east entrance.

This is the umpteenth time, the SDO is banning Movement of trucks
Bertrand Mache says banning Movement of trucks will prevent accidents.

The senior Divisional Officer for Wouri says the decision is to preserve public order in the city of Douala.
Bertrand Mache adds that, defaulters will face the law. There have been questions why the decision has not placed similar embargo in the entire city of Douala where accidents are reoccurent.

Many question how effective the ban will be as similar decisions in the past have ended in a fiasco.

Recently, series of accidents have occurred in Littoral, caused by heavy duty trucks transporting goods within the city of Douala.
