Wum: Soldiers beat man to near-death for pricing firewood ‘expensive’

A firewood seller in Wum, in the Northwest region of Cameroon, is nursing his wounds and swollen body following severe beatings unleashed on him by men in military uniform.

“Giving him beatings of his life, they flogged and flogged him. Why? Over a very trivial issue…That he was bargaining too much the price of firewood he was selling” a source said.

“Suddenly, the men jumped from their vehicle and started unleashing blows that you would fear his bones would break” added the source.

The chief executioner is a notorious soldier from the President’s Beti tribe, as the locals are reporting. He is popularly called Mangata. Bike riders in Wum say they have had their fair share of the notorious tormentor’s abuses. In every instance, he threatens to shoot anyone who dares to disobey him.

Pure impunity!
