Yaoundé: authorities double down on policy to crackdown against bike riders

Authorities in Cameroon’s political capital, Yaoundé have said they are multiplying efforts to combat disorder in the town.

Over the past two weeks, hundreds of bikes had been impounded for violating circulation limits.

The Senior Divisional officer for Mfoundi, Djikdent Emmanuel has said the operation will continue as planned. He was speaking during the Yaoundé City Council’s midterm evaluation session.

“In the fight against urban disorder, we are accompanying the Mayor,” he told reporters.

It should be recalled that prior to the launch of the said campaign, the SDO and the town’s mayor, Luc Messi Atangana had warned commercial bike riders through their syndicate leaders.

The Mayor went on to note that those whose bikes are impounded for violating circulation limits would have a very hard time getting them back.
