Yaoundé:
Four cheat death as truck loses brakes, crushes motorbikes

A commercial motorbike rider in the city of Yaoundé, sustained minor injuries after being involved in a road accident today.

The rider was one of four others that cheated death along the Biten-Nkoabang road in the West African nation’s capital.

Eyewitnesses say the accident occurred when a heavy duty truck lost control due to a failure in its breaking system, as it ascended a slope.

The truck, sources recount, crushed two commercial motorbikes on its path as it reversed.

In an attempt to escape the ‘mad’ truck, “… one of the riders sustained minor injuries as he jumped off” he explains.

All the others are said to have successfully evaded the truck too.

The incident happened two days after another heavy duty truck lost control, killing three in Limbe, South West region.
