Mother and daughter die within hours of each other in Yaounde
By M.K
Shocking reports emerging from Yaoundé say a little girl of about 2 years old died during mass at the Sts Peter and Paul Anglophone Parish, in Simbock-Yaoundé, with her mother following suit a few hours later.
This unfortunate incident happened during the second mass, usually from 8 am-10 am as the priest was at the peak of Consecration in the church, on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
Eyewitness accounts confirm that the child was with her mother in church when a warden noticed some abnormalities and called her attention, advising her to take the child to the hospital.
On the way to the hospital, the baby is reported to have died, prompting the aggrieved mum to return with her corpse to church.
Reliable sources at the Sts Peter and Paul Anglophone Parish say the lady walked straight to the alter with the child in her arms while the priest was doing consecration.
The church rites were halted momentarily as the priest alerted medical personnel to attend to the aggrieved mother and her daughter.
They both were taken to the Yaoundé general hospital where the death of the girl was confirmed. Heartbroken and devasted the unconsolable mum fainted.
Local reports are now claiming that the mother may also have died out of shock. Personal details of the mother and daughter cannot be confirmed at the moment, we will however provide you with updates as they unfold.
