Yaounde: Man caught attempting to rape three-year-old

A man has been arrested in the Simbock neighborhood in Yaounde after attempting to have carnal knowledge of a three-year-old girl.

The suspect, dressed as a commercial motorbike rider came to the locality around a small spring where the Quarter residents fetch water.

A source says he “… Lured the kid who came to fetch water into an uncompleted building just close to the spring and undressed her. Her elder sister looking for her met her inside a hidden room in the uncompleted with the child naked.”

The source adds that the sister immediately alerted neighbors and her parents.

The population “… went to the place and found the child naked with the stranger. He doesn’t live in this neighbourhood and he’s not related with the girl in anyway.”

Amateur videos shot at the scene show the suspect denying any wrongdoing. The three-year-old however insists that he undressed her.

Last week a girl died in hospital in Douala after being found near an uncompleted building. Doctors revealed that she had been raped.
