Yaoundé: Police Officer Stabs Young Man Over A Lady

A police officer has stabbed a young man in Yaoundé over a girl according to a friend of the deceased.

The boy whose only name MMI got as Calvert, is a native of Bali, in the North West Region of Cameroon. He was stabbed in front of the SIMS nightclub after getting roughly beaten up by the officer whose name MMI got as Ornelle, and his other friends, causing him to bleed to death.

A week before the incident, Ornelle had threatened Calvert, telling him he was going to kill him like his brothers are being killed in the Anglophone regions.

The said officer is reported to have notoriety for his ill-treatment of civilians with whom he has disputes according to our source.

Ornelle is said to be working as a police officer under the ESIR unit. Our source also informs us that Ornelle works at the Police Station opposite the pharmacy du Soleil in Yaoundé, Post Central.

The incident which is reported to have occurred on Friday, July 08, 2022, at about 4: 00 am, has further exposed how forces of law and order believe they can get away with breaking the law. Since the incident took place, Ornelle has been shielded by his colleagues away from justice.

Though reports state that Ornelle bore responsibility for the funeral and bought a casket for the burial, relatives of the deceased, say this is like adding salt to injury. They say nothing short of justice for their son will be sufficient.
