Yaoundé: Robbers attack Headquarters of “La Voix des Jeunes Newspaper”

Several offices in the Bastos neighborhood of Yaoundé have been victims of an organized robbery this week that has left many stunned.

One of the offices targeted was the headquarters of the “La Voix des Jeunes” Newspaper. The robbery was carried out on the night of May 14, breaking May 15, 2023.

Media reports have revealed that the unidentified group broke into the offices through the roofs to have access to the buildings.

After breaking in, the thieves successfully made away with several computers, a Flat TV screen, and other valuables. They also attempted to forcefully open the office safe, and equally vandalized office documents.

In all, material of over 5 million FCFA was taken away by the brigands from the Newspaper house. An inquiry has been opened to track down the culprits of the malicious act.

This robbery is just one amongst a string of recent attacks on the press and media men in Cameroon. The most recent is the assassination of Journalist Anye Nde Nsoh, of the Advocate Newspaper in Bamenda by Separatists.
