Organised crime has been on a rapid increase in the city of Yaoundé, something the forces of law and order have been on the lookout for much recently.
A gang of 5 Robbers were yesterday presented to the Press by the Yaoundé Judicial Police. The gang made up of all men, thy said, has been at the forefront of several home robberies and carjackings in the capital.
Speaking to the Press, the Divisional Commissioner at the Judicial Police Directorate in Yaoundé, Denise Nto revealed that the gang was so well organised with each member having a specific role to play.
“This is a well organized group where everyone has a well organized role… The robbers monitor their victims and take them by surprise, tie them up and torture them till they are willing to cooperate” Denise Nto revealed.
“They also have mechanics who are in charge of transforming stolen vehicles to make them unrecognizable…” He added.
The operation leading to the arrest of the robbers equally saw the police to recover approximately 11 luxury vehicles in their keep, 27 license plates, 11 firearms, 25 hunting ammunition amongst others.
The Yaoundé Judicial Police meanwhile, has launched a manhunt for the other members of the gang who are currently on the run.
