A man is on the run in the town of Yaoundé after he allegedly murdered his landlord in the Elig-Edzoa neighborhood.
The pair are said to have been involved in a scuffle over the tenant’s unpaid rents when the tragedy occurred.
Witnesses say the tenant had given many unfulfilled promises of paying his rents to the landlord. Having grown impatient with him, Mr. Ngono Parfait, the landlord is said to have disconnected the tenant’s electricity.
The landlord is also believed to have handed the tenant a quit notice, which was not respected.
Neighbors say this tenant had openly threatened to deal with the landlord if he failed to reinstall his electricity.
Days after not having his electricity reinstalled, neighbors say the tenant attacked the landlord with abuses.
It quickly degenerated and the landlord got stabbed by the tenant.
“We heard them arguing and then suddenly there was a dead silence. We thought all was okay, but we later discovered the landlord in a pool of blood, and the tenant had escaped,” a neighbor recounted.
The corpse of the landlord, meanwhile, has been transferred to a morgue pending burial, and a manhunt has been launched to track down the suspected murderer.
