Government Teachers have been loitering around the National Treasury in the Capital Yaounde, for five days counting without recieving their salaries, some of them have told MMI.
The treasury in Bastos, reports say is out of cash to pay them.
They voiced out their frustrations today March 9, 2023 after waiting since Tuesday last week.
Disgruntled with the situation, the teachers say things are getting off hand as they can not wait longer.
“Since five days we have been here and they said they have no money to pay our salary,” one the teachers told MMI.
Finance officials our source added, told them, “We don’t have enough funds to satisfy all teachers.”
According to report gathered, the teachers affected are those who went to take their salaries for the first time since being integrated into the public service.
“Since last week Tuesday they have been unable to pay government teachers who are taking their salary for the first time,” he added.
The disgruntled teachers are currently camped at the treasury in protest.
The treasury department has not issued statement.
