Football fans were left disappointed today as they turned out to watch a league game at the Yong Sports Academy arena in Bamenda.
Reports say Tonnere Kalara Club, TKC of Yaoundé today refused to play against Yong Sports Academy, YOSA, as had been programmed.
A source on the field told MMI that TKC refused to present their Covid-19 test results.
The game built for 3PM today was delayed and later called off.
“Unfortunately YOSA’s game against Tonnere Kalara FC didn’t play as the latter failed to present the results of the Covid-19 test of players,” a message from YOSA’s communication unit said.
“This,” it added, “is according to the League’s Rules and Regulation of the 2020/2021 football season adopted by FECAFOOT”.
“We are now looking at our Day 2 game against Cotton Sport of Garoua,” said the media unit.
The recent setback comes after a prolonged delay of the league due to a year-long tussle between officials.
It also follows an increase in Covid-19 cases across the country and calls for vigilance.
