Young girl gruesomely murdered in Yaounde

A young girl has been stabbed to death by unidentified men at the entrance to her residence in Tongolo, a neighborhood in Yaounde, Centre Region of Cameroon.

The Master’s student who was studying Geo-sciences at the University of Yaoundé 1 was murdered on Tuesday, April 18, at about 8:30 pm.

The identity of her killers and their motive remains unknown.

Officials have not been able to establish whether it was a burglary.

Several young women have been victims of untimely deaths, in the city of Yaounde lately, raising questions about the security state of the country’s capital.

Yaounde is also where the country’s president lives. “If we have become unsafe in a town where the president lives, that shows how terrible the security situation in other parts of Cameroon is,” a critic told MMI.
