The Bui Division in Cameroon’s North West Region remains a hotspot for violence in the ongoing war between Biya’s soldiers and separatist fighters.
Soldiers are said to have carried out a raid in Mbokam 1, a locality in Jakiri Sub Division.
“They started burning houses. As we are talking now, nine people are dead already and two houses burnt down” testifies a source.
“We have been in the bush since morning. There are 9 deaths before 10 a.m. Now 11 corpses are lying down” he adds.
Such raids are not uncommon in the crisis-hit regions that have seen hundreds of villages razed to ashes since the crisis escalated into a bloody war.
Government and separatist fighters that have failed to come to a compromise have always blamed each other for atrocities and human rights violations such as torture and extrajudicial killings.
Over three thousand lives have been lost in the bloodbath.
