2021/2022 Academic Year: Primary schools disinfected ahead of resumption

The North West Regional delegate of Basic Education, Wilfred Wambeng Ndong has indicated that primary schools in the region are being disinfected in a move to combat the spread of Covid-19 as the 2021/2022 academic year gets close.

During the regional launch of the 2021/2022 academic year for the basic education sector in Bamenda, the officials mentioned that registration is ongoing in schools in the region to ensure massive attendance.

Wilfred Wambeng Ndong during the meeting described education as a battle against insecurity that has hampered full-scale school attendance.

“The ordeal of having to escort teachers to their job positions and tactically all the red zones were left out for pedagogic supervision”, he said.

The regional delegate recommends collective efforts as a crucial factor that resulted in encouraging school attendance in the past year.

During the 2020/2021 academic year, the basic education sector had 131.654 children in 836 schools that operated.

The basic education officials are strategizing to have an improved academic picture in schools this academic year.

Parents and school children have also been encouraged to defy fears of insecurity as the government fights to improve the security situation of the North West region.
