Donga Mantung fons challenged to return to their Fondoms

The president of the North West House of Chiefs, Fon Yakum Kelvin has challenged the fons of Donga Mantung to return to their Fondoms, make peace and unite their subjects towards the common goal of effective school resumption in the division.

Fon Yakum Kelvin made the call Thursday, August 26, 2021, in Bamenda during a meeting with traditional rulers from the Donga Mantung division.

During the meeting, the president of the North West House of Chiefs encouraged the fons to request on their locals to clean school campuses and defy the current insecurity to send their children to school for the upcoming academic year.

Before the start of the socio-political crisis in the region, Donga Mantung division had 70 functional colleges, with 4 created during the crisis but just 39 of the schools were opened last year. Despite that, the Donga Mantung division is second in the region after Mezam in school attendance.

On their part, the fons of Donga Mantung promised to ensure that the children in their respective Fondoms return to school.

“We are going to put in place our own local security that will always help and guide our children”, one of the fons said.

The custodians of tradition appealed to their subjects to give them full support so that their children will enjoy their right to education.
