The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon will be facing Botswana tonight in Morocco for a decisive game.
The game, scheduled to hold at 9 pm, shall be a play-off for a spot in next year’s International Federation of Football Association, FIFA Women’s World Cup, to take place in Australia and New Zealand.
On Thursday, July 15 2022, during the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament, the Falcons of Nigeria defeated the Lionesses with a 1-0 score.
The defeat rendered Cameroon’s chances of qualifying for the upcoming Women’s World Cup games slim. This is as only semifinalists of the 2022 WAFCON could secure direct qualification for the tournament.
In this light, the Indomitable Lionesses are expected to face Botswana while Senegal faces Tunisia to compete for a chance to qualify for the tournament.
South Africa, Nigeria, Morocco, and Zambia who all made it to the semis of the ongoing WAFCON competition have qualified already to represent Africa in the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
