24 suspected Indian hemp smokers arrested in Yaoundé

In the endless fight against illicit drug usage and trafficking in Cameroon, elements of the National Gendarmerie in the city of Yaoundé have arrested a total of 24 individuals suspected of being Indian hemp addicts.

Most of them were apprehended around the Ekounou Market and Ekie on Monday, March 22, 2021.

In an operation which was carried out by the National Gendarmerie on that day, it is reported that a total of 67 persons were arrested by the Gendarmes, including the 24 who were taken in for smoking Indian hemp, 27 were arrested for the lack of National ID cards and 16 for other offenses.

In the operation, the elements of the National Gendarmerie were equally able to seize at least 500 wraps of Indian hemp, 16 wraps of Cocaine, 2 packets of fresh and dry hemp, 10 syringes, 19 packets of cigarettes, 19 telephones, various weapons and a fake FCFA 10,000 banknote.
