250 Million Africans Could get COVID-19 in one Year WHO Warns

World Health Organization scientists say between 150,000 and 190,000 Africans could die from Covid-19.

The results of the research that brought about this finding was published in BMJ Global Health also show that some 5.5 million people would need hospital treatment. This it says suggests that 250 million Africans are likely to get infected in just a year.

The forecasted numbers show that health services are likely to be overwhelmed in addition to the fact that they are already handling persons suffering from other diseases.

The announcement comes when many African states are beginning to ease restrictions that had been put in place to curb the spread of the virus.

While more African states are going in for Madagascar’s COVID-19 treatment, the WHO is still skeptical and has warned against the consumption of untested medications.

It maintains that social distancing and healthy hygienic habits are the best ways to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
