Cameroon: Wouri SDO Announces Crackdown on Violators of Anti COVID-19 Measures

The Senior Divisional Officer for Wouri Division says his administration will engage in a repressive phase next Monday May 18th 2020 on people that are not respecting coronavirus preventive measures.

In a service note signed Thursday May 14th, Benjamin Mboutou says people caught not wearing face masks in public places will be arrested and charged to pay the penalty accordingly.

At the level of beer parlours and other drinking spots, the civil administrator is firm. People caught in these places violating either the measure of social distancing or wearing of face masks will not only be arrested but the business place will be shutdown.

The SDO has equally called on transporters to avoid over loading.

The violation of COVID-19 preventive measures in Wouri Division is gaining steam as many falsely believe that the pandemic is over.
