250kg of Cannabis intercepted in Bafoussam

At least 12 bags of Cannabis were intercepted by customs officers in Bafoussam, West Region of Cameroon on June 21, 2022.

The contraband was intercepted in an inter-urban bus which left Bamenda heading to the North Region of the country.

“Very early in the morning, around 1:30 am, my collaborators controlled an inter-urban bus which was travelling to Yaoundé and in the boot of this bus, bags of cannabis were discovered.” said Sadou Oumaroun, chief of the West Customs sector.

He added that “the transporter made us to understand that the bus is from the North West Region and is heading to different localities in the North Region. It had to make a stop in Yaoundé, then transfer the products to another bus.”

It is reported that the transporters made use of second-handed shoes to cover the various bags of cannabis.

Sadou Oumaroun urged the population to distance themselves from such practices and also ensure to report them to the authorities if identified in their neighbourhood.
