The Cameroon Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi has officially launched the activities marking the 30th edition of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope. The event, which has become a symbol of international athletic excellence and cultural unity, promises to be one of the most exciting editions yet.
A total of 763 athletes from 12 different countries have converged on the race, highlighting its growing global appeal. These competitors will face one of the most formidable challenges in sports: a race that takes them to the legendary “chariots of gods,” located at an altitude of 4100 metres above sea level. The steep climb and thin mountain air are also expected to test even the most seasoned athletes, making the competition a true test of endurance and determination.
Message of Peace
Set against the inspiring theme “Let’s Give Peace a Chance,” this year’s edition goes beyond athletic rivalry. Organizers and participants alike are embracing the event as a platform to promote harmony and unity through sport. The race has, over the years, however, evolved into a celebration of community and international cooperation, and the current edition is no exception.

As an annual fixture on the sporting calendar, the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope consistently rewards excellence in its senior categories. Furthermore, the winner in each senior category will walk away with a prize of 10 million FCFA—a reward that not only honors athletic prowess but also serves as an encouragement for future competitors.
Meanwhile, with the official competition set to begin tomorrow, anticipation is building among athletes, supporters, and communities alike. This 30th edition promises to be a memorable milestone in the race’s storied history, featuring breathtaking natural scenery, challenging physical demands, and a strong message of peace.
