Atleast 46 civilians have been killed, and so many others missing following an attack in a remote village in Benue state, Nigeria.
Gunmen reportedly stormed the village shooting indiscriminately.
Reports say the death toll maybe higher given that many others are still unaccounted for.
“The 46 casualties were from the bodies of victims found and retrieved. Many people are still missing, so the number of those killed may be higher,” Paul Hemba, security adviser to the Benue state governor, told AFP.
The reason behind the attack is unknown. However, the area is widely known for hosting clashes between farmers and Fulani herders.
