Some students of the University of Bamenda have been left furious after being told they are not entitled to the annual Presidential Grant of 50,000FCFA for students in all state Universities.
According to testimonies from some students of the University, a number of names in the list of potential benifactors from the department of law were denied the grant.
It was unusually realised that along some of the names on the list, there was also a written amount of zero franc (0FCFA), meaning they were not entitled to the grant according to the university authorities.
Students have been infuriated by the controversy, saying this has never happened at any time in any of the state Universities in Cameroon. Students say they are automatically eligible once their names appear on the list.
The affected students believe that the school administration might have tampered with the final list.
University authorities nevertheless have failed to address the concerns of the students, and the affected students have equally not received the presidential grant.
