91 year old abandoned widow who lost all children, grand children in need of humanitarian assistance

An abandoned elderly woman has been discovered abandoned in Mafentame in Foumban West, Region of Cameroon.

91-year-old Yen Berthe lost all family members with no one left to look after her.

She told members of the Emelda Foundation that she has lost her husband, all her ten children, and all six grandchildren.

She was found in a precarious state by the philanthropists during a recent visit to Foumban.

She can barely feed, with no comfortable place of abode with no one to give assistance.

“I was in Foumban and met this woman in Mafentame village. She had ten children who all died including six grandchildren and the husband,” Djeutsa Hermaine Alliance, CEO of Emelda Aid Foundation told MMI adding, “She has been rejected and isolated by the whole Community who says she is a witch.”

The 91-year-old according to what MMI gathered has been frustrated to the level where she finds herself stealing from people’s farms in order to eat.

Her place of abode is no better, MMI learned.

“Where she lives, even a dog can not live in such a state,” Djeutsa Hermaine Alliance went on.

In need of humanitarian assistance

Following an assessment carried out by the Emelda Aid Foundation, the old woman is in need of humanitarian assistance.

“When I inquired about her needs she said all she needed was food and where to lay her head while waiting for her final day. She lamented that she has tried to take away her life several but changed her mind for the fear of God stating that she has no reason to live after losing an entire family,” the CEO continued.

In reaction, Emelda Aid Foundation offered some foodstuff and other immediate needs but according to them, “This is not sufficient that is why we are calling on the public to join hands and help her.”

In partnership with Mimi Mefo Info, Emelda Aid Foundation is soliciting for assistance to help 91-year-old Mama Yen Bertha.
