The Cameroonian movie Industry is mourning the loss of veteran actor and producer, Otia Suh Vitalis, who passed away on Sunday, June 9, in Yaounde.
Born and raised in Tole, South West Region, Vitalis became a formidable figure in African cinema. His acting career began in 2006 when a friend encouraged him to join a film project titled “Facing Destiny,” a 17-episode TV series produced by CRTV.
This debut marked the start of a prolific career spanning nearly two decades, during which he acted in over 50 movies and series.
Pa Otia’s filmography showcases his versatility and talent, with notable works including “4th Generation,” “Great Obligation,” “Hidden Dreams,” “Saving Mbango,” “Daniella the Slave Girl,” “Love Trap,” “Dzemakou,” “Broken” (featured on Netflix), “The Chiseler,” “A Dead Man’s Wish,” and TV series “Samba,” “Maestro,” and “Bad Angel.”
His performances in these projects earned him numerous award nominations and significant recognition within the film industry.
Otia’s influence extended beyond acting; he was a key figure in the Cameroonian film industry. He founded and presided over the Red Feather Awards, with the 8th edition expected this year, and served as the pioneer chairman of the Cameroon Film Industry Board.
His contributions were pivotal in shaping and promoting Cameroonian cinema, providing a platform for emerging talents and fostering a vibrant film culture.

Among his most celebrated roles was his starring performance in “Bad Angel,” which showcased his extraordinary talent and solidified his place in the annals of African cinema.
