A potential disaster was narrowly averted today near the CCC Microfinance Institution, located at Savannah Street Junction in Bamenda after the discovery of a suspicious bag caused a bomb scare.
Local residents noticed an unattended bag and wasted no time in alerting the authorities. “Upon arrival this morning, we stumbled upon the bag.” “We were all frightened, so we immediately notified the security,” recounted an eyewitness who was one of the first to observe the questionable item.
Acting with urgency, security forces quickly established a perimeter, prioritising the well-being of the public. Specialists in bomb disposal were summoned to evaluate the circumstances. In a meticulously executed operation, the experts successfully detonated the device without any harm to individuals or damage to property.
This incident is the third occurrence of an explosive device being planted around the T Junction in Bamenda, which has caused growing concerns among residents regarding the rising insecurity in the region. There is growing scepticism regarding the intentions behind these actions, especially when it comes to the deliberate attacks on civilian areas.
