Thomas Dakayi Kamga, who served Cameroon in several capacities, including as Cabinet Minister, died from an illness on Sunday, October 27, at the age of 80.
His death brings to memory his remarkable career in the public service.
Under President Paul Biya, Thomas Dakayi Kamga held several positions, rising from a director to a minister.
He became deputy director of the National Electricity Company, SONEL, which later became Eneo.
Between 1983 and 1985, he served as Minister of Public Works and later Minister of Equipment.
He was later appointed to head the Cameroon Airlines Company before being nominated by the state of Cameroon as Secretary General of Economic Community of Central African States (CEMAC).
Life and Education
He was born on December 6, 1944, in Bandja, Upper Nkam Division of the West Region of Cameroon.
He trained as an engineer at École Central de Paris graduating in 1968.
In 2000, he founded a consulting firm, DAKAYI MULTID Consulting, specializing in public works, studies and project management.
In 2008, he became Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NUFI Cultural Association.
His passing away is a great loss to family, friends and the nation at large.
