Bongka Vivian, the woman who was hospitalised weeks ago after an acid attack from her husband in Bamenda, has died.

She died at about 1 am Monday, October 28, at the Douala General Hospital, where she had been battling for survival, the Nso Development Association (NSODA), where she once served as Secretary General, confirmed.

“It is with a heavy heart that we just learned of the passing away of the former Secretary General of NSODA: Dr Bongka Vivian. She passed away at the Douala General Hospital at about 1:00am today the 28th October 2024,” the NSODA statement read.

The association extended “heartfelt condolences to the family” to Dr Bongka Vivian, who was Head of Department of Bilingual Letters at the Higher Teachers Training College (HTTC) of the University of Bamenda.

“On behalf of the Executive Council of NSODA and the entire Nso family we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” NSODA said in the statement.

Vivian was bedridden on October 12 after her husband, late Ebai Elias, poured acid on her face during a home quarrel.

She suffered severe burns on her body and was rushed to the hospital.

Her husband died immediately after reportedly consuming the acid, according to sources at the Alahlieh neighbourhood in Nkwen, Bamenda, where the incident occurred.
