A loaded truck transporting goods from Nigeria toppled last evening near the Nso Boyz agency, Bamenda, sparking concern over road safety and infrastructure in the region.
The vehicle, heavily loaded with various commodities, lost balance while navigating a deteriorated section of the road, between the Food Market and City Chemist Roundabout.
Eyewitnesses recounted how the driver struggled to maintain control as the truck bounced on potholes, resulting in its sudden overturning.
“The road is in such a poor condition. The truck overturned due to the poor state of the road,” a local resident stated.
While no injuries were reported, the scene attracted a crowd, many of whom are watching in disbelief.
This incident caused temporary traffic disruption along the stretch.
It is not the first time vehicles have overturned on Bamenda’s roads, leaving those transporting the goods with heavy losses.
A Bamenda resident recounted how a truck carrying his goods overturned at Meta Quarter in 2017. The goods included tiles and toilet pods.
“The goods were mine. They actually reached in front of my warehouse in Meta Quarter before it was brought down by potholes. I am yet to recover from the shock,” said the goods owner.
